The double-cut pikulnik is one of the plants of the family called Lamiaceae; in Latin the name of this plant will be as follows: Galeopsis bifida Boenn.

As for the name of the family itself, in Latin it will be like this: Lamiaceae Lindl. (Labiatae Juss.).

Description of double-cut pikulnik

Pikulnik double-cut is a herbaceous weed plant, endowed with a soft-hairy stem, the height of which will fluctuate between twenty and eighty centimeters. The leaves of this plant will be quite narrow, the flowers are small in size, and the corolla length is about ten to fifteen millimeters, it can be colored purple or pink, with the corolla tubes being only slightly longer than the calyx itself.

Under natural conditions, double-cut pikulnik is found in the Far East and the south of Western Siberia. For growth, this plant prefers places along roads, vegetable gardens, river pebbles and places among crops.

Description of the medicinal properties of double-cut pikulnik

Double-cut pikulnik is endowed with very valuable healing properties, and it is recommended to use the herb of this plant for medicinal purposes. The term grass includes leaves, stems and flowers. It is recommended to harvest such raw materials throughout the entire flowering period of this plant.

The presence of valuable healing properties is recommended to be explained by the content of saponins in the herb of this plant, while the flowers and leaves contain carotene, ascorbic acid, scutellarin and the following flavonoids: wogonin, chrysin and baicalin. The seeds of the two-cut pikulnik contain an alkaloid, saponins, as well as a drying fatty oil, which is poisonous. It is noteworthy that in Siberia such oil is used for technical purposes.

It should be noted that this plant is poisonous to horses, and poisoning will be caused by the flowers and seeds of the double-cut pikulnik.

As for traditional medicine, here this plant is quite widespread. Traditional medicine recommends using an infusion based on the herb of this plant for chronic runny nose, peptic ulcers, general weakness, gastritis, gastralgia and epilepsy, and is also used as an expectorant, anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic. In addition, an infusion based on the herb of double-cut pikulnik is recommended for use as a bitterness. For cancer, tea based on the roots of this plant should be used.

An infusion prepared from the herb of this plant is recommended for washing lichen, and poultices based on this healing agent are used for snake bites, wounds, abscesses and panaritiums.

In folk medicine of Siberia and the Far East, an infusion prepared from the leaves of the double-cut pikulnik is widely used for various diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, for suffocation, bronchitis, pulmonary tuberculosis and the runny nose. As for Tibetan medicine, here the herb of this plant is used for conjunctivitis.

It should be noted that the flowers of this plant will be very rich in pollen and nectar, for this reason bees use this plant to replenish their supplies for the winter. It is noteworthy that the productivity of double-cut pikulnik per hectare of thickets reaches about fifty-five to seventy-five kilograms. However, it is also important to remember the fact that frequent use of drugs based on this plant and their overdose will cause muscle pain.
