Schlumberger truncated

Schlumbergera truncata is also known under the name Schlumbergera truncata. In Latin, the name of this plant is as follows: Schlumbergera (Zygocactus) truncata.
Schlumbergera truncata is part of the family called cactaceae, in Latin the name of this family will be: Cactaceae.
Description of the characteristics of growing this plant
Schlumbergera truncata prefers partial shade for growth, and in the summer the plant will need to be provided with moderate watering. At the same time, for the favorable cultivation of this plant, the air humidity must remain quite high. The life form of Schlumbergera truncata is a succulent.
It is recommended to grow the plant indoors at any level of light, but remember that this plant will not bloom in very dark places. In summer, it is recommended to take the plant out onto the balcony or into the garden. Also, quite often Schlumbergera truncated can be found in greenhouses.
It is noteworthy that in natural conditions the maximum size of this plant can reach a diameter of about fifty centimeters.
Features of care and cultivation of Schlumbergera truncated
For the favorable development of this plant, it will need to be replanted annually in the spring. It is recommended to choose relatively shallow and not particularly wide pots, which should also provide good drainage.
As for the composition of the soil mixture, you will need to prepare a fairly light and loose soil. Such soil should consist of lumps that are approximately half a centimeter or one centimeter in diameter. The main components of such soil should be: expanded clay, sphagnum moss, peat and soil that is quite poor in organic fertilizers. As for the degree of acidity, for the favorable development of this plant you will need to choose slightly acidic soils.
It is also important to remember that Schlumbergera truncata can quite easily lose its roots and shed its own buds. Such adverse effects only occur when the plant’s growing conditions are negative. When there is a short period of dormancy, it will be necessary to reduce watering: such measures will make it possible for a fairly abundant formation of buds. This period of rest occurs in the month of September.
As for caring for the plant during the dormant period, the optimal growing temperature at this time will be about fifteen to twenty degrees Celsius. Watering and air humidity should be kept moderate.
Propagation of this plant occurs through cuttings, which will consist of one to three segments. At the very base, such segments must be trimmed and dried for at least two days. After this, the plants should be rooted in a moist substrate.
It should be noted that the plants will require a humid atmosphere, but in cool conditions it is impossible to allow moisture to stagnate in the pot. Schlumbergera truncata loves fairly frequent spraying, so from time to time you will need to wash the plant under running water. As for fertilizing, the plant will require both root and foliar fertilizing using a weakly concentrated solution based on complex mineral fertilizers. Such feeding should be provided on a regular basis. From time to time you should trim along the base of the segment, which will also lead to a beautiful crown formation. It is also very important to remember that during the formation of buds it is strictly forbidden to sharply change any conditions of the plant: this should include not only the temperature and watering regime, but also the location of the plant.
