Italian gum is one of the plants of the family called Cloveaceae; in Latin the name of this plant will be as follows: Silene italica (L.) Pers.

As for the name of the Italian gum family itself, in Latin it will be: Caryophyllaceae Juss.

Description of Italian tar

Italian gum is a perennial herbaceous plant whose height will vary between twenty-five and eighty centimeters. The stem of this plant at the very base will be endowed with barren branches, while at the bottom it is fluffy, and at the top it will be sticky and branched. The basal leaves of Resin italica will be elliptical, the stem leaves are spatulate, and the upper ones are linear-lanceolate. The flowers of this plant are located at the very ends of the branches and stems: they are collected in three-flowered dichasia, and the calyx will be cylindrical, the length of such flowers is eighteen to twenty millimeters. The petals of Italian gum are painted white, the plates of such petals are cut deeper than half into oblong lobes.

This plant blooms from May to June. Under natural conditions, Italian gum is found in the Caucasus, Crimea and Central Asia. As for its general distribution, this plant can be found in Iran, North Africa, Asia Minor, the Western and Eastern Mediterranean. For growth, Italian gum prefers shrubs, mountain meadows, sparse mountain and pine forests, gravelly and rocky slopes.

Description of the medicinal properties of Italian resin

Italian gum is endowed with very valuable healing properties, and it is recommended to use the herb of this plant for medicinal purposes. The term grass includes stems, flowers and leaves.

The presence of such valuable healing properties should be explained by the content of saponins in the composition of this plant, while the aerial part of Italian gum will contain the following flavonoids: vicerin, vitexin, isovitexin, homoorientin, adonivernet, orientin and homoadonivernit

It should be noted that an infusion of the herb based on Italian campion is used in some regions of the Caucasus for toothache, sore throat, laryngitis, and stomatitis. This infusion is prepared using twelve grams of this herb and two hundred milliliters of water.

It should be noted that the chemical composition of this plant has not yet been fully studied, and therefore, the medicinal uses of Italian campion are still incomplete. Traditional medicine claims that this plant has a calming effect on the nervous system, as well as antitoxic, anti-inflammatory, hemostatic, and analgesic properties.

Tinctures prepared from Italian campion are indicated for various nervous system disorders, depression, and low spirits. For external use, tinctures made from this plant are used in the form of poultices and compresses for various inflammatory processes in the body. Furthermore, it has been proven that Italian campion has a general beneficial effect on the human body. However, it is crucial to carefully follow all the instructions for preparing medicinal remedies: only then will a positive effect be achieved.
