Euphorbia buturlak or garden is an annual herbaceous plant, bluish and somewhat fleshy; its color can be either whitish-green or bluish-green. In the end, such a plant will turn red, and its height fluctuates between ten and twenty-five centimeters. The stems of Euphorbia buturlak are thick, fleshy and creeping, while for the most part they will be endowed with swollen nodes and are banded and ribbed. The leaves of Euphorbia buturlak are on petioles, their length is one to three millimeters, and they will be ovate-oblong in shape. The glass of this plant will be bell-shaped, its length reaches one and a half millimeters, and the width will be about one and a half to two millimeters; inside such a glass is short-haired. There are only four nectaries, they are concave at the top, the nectaries are narrow, often reddish in color, and the cup-shaped perianth that is located around the pistillate flower will be more or less noticeable. The three-nuts of this plant are spherical, triangular, the seed is not compressed and conical in shape, it is gray in color, and its length only slightly exceeds two millimeters.

Flowering of milkweed buturlak occurs in the period from June to September. Under natural conditions, this plant is found in the Caucasus, Belarus, the European part of Russia, in the Carpathians and the Dnieper region of Ukraine. For growth, this plant prefers gardens and vegetable gardens, fields, cultivated soil, and sometimes dry slopes. It should be noted that this plant is not only an insecticide, but is also a poisonous plant.

Description of the medicinal properties of milkweed buturlak

Euphorbia buturlak is endowed with very valuable healing properties, and for medicinal purposes it is recommended to use the milky juice, grass and roots of this plant.

The presence of such valuable healing properties should be explained by the content of steroids, diterpenoids, triterpenoids, flavonoids, alkaloids, cyanogenic compounds, higher fatty acids and higher aliphatic alcohols in this plant. The roots of this plant contain resin, while the aerial part contains flavonoids, coumarins and tannins. The leaves of Euphorbia buturlak will contain coumarins, flavonoids, rubber, triterpenoids and phenolcarboxylic acids.

This plant is endowed with very effective keratoplasty, emetic and laxative effects. The milky juice of this plant is recommended for external use to remove calluses, warts, calluses, and age spots. Preparations based on Euphorbia buturlak are used for bronchial asthma, cancer of the liver, uterus and stomach. A powder prepared from the roots of this plant is indicated for use in rabies.
