Golden clover is an annual or biennial herbaceous plant. Its stems grow to about twenty to forty centimeters tall, and can be either erect or ascending. Its leaves are trifoliate with equal and very short petioles. The rather thin leaves of this plant are no more than two centimeters long. Numerous inflorescences are found at the top of the stem and branches in the leaf axils on hairy peduncles, which are about two to three centimeters long. These flower stalks will exceed the adjacent leaflet, growing in spherical, often elongated heads, one and a half to two centimeters long. Golden clover flowers are yellow, and after flowering, these flowers turn brown and droop. The flowers of this plant are five to six centimeters long, and the pod is single-seeded.

Golden clover blooms in June, and the plant begins to bear fruit in July. In the wild, this plant can be found in European Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus, the Primorsky and Sakhalin regions of the Far East, and the Ob region of Western Siberia. Golden clover prefers shrubby habitats, dry meadows, roadsides, forest edges, riverbanks, as well as moist areas and predominantly sandy soils up to the mid-mountain zone. It should be noted that golden clover sometimes grows as a weed.

Description of the medicinal properties of golden clover

Golden clover has very valuable medicinal properties, and the herb is recommended for medicinal purposes. The herb includes the flowers, stems, inflorescences, and leaves of golden clover. These valuable medicinal properties are explained by the content of flavonoids, kaempferol, flavonols, isoflavones, rutin, biochanin, quercetin, trifolin, isorhamnetin, genistein, hyperoside, ononin, isoquercitrin, trifolin, and 7-glucoside biochanin A in the aboveground portion of this plant.

As for traditional medicine, aqueous-alcoholic tincture based on this plant is quite widespread. This very effective remedy is recommended for use as a general tonic, and is also used for headaches and dizziness. It should be noted that golden clover flowers have the ability to produce a yellow color.

To prepare a medicinal tincture based on golden clover, you will need to take pre-prepared dry raw materials of this plant. You need to take about fifty grams of such raw materials. For preliminary preparation, the herb should first be crushed in a mortar and pestle. After this, the herb of this plant is transferred to a dark glass container, about five hundred milliliters of alcohol is poured into it, the resulting mixture is thoroughly mixed and left to infuse for about ten days. It should be noted that this container should be shaken daily. After this time period ends, the resulting infusion should be carefully strained. Now this tincture based on golden clover is ready for use; it should be noted that the tincture can be stored either in the refrigerator or simply at room temperature.
