Colrausia runnerum is an annual herbaceous glabrous plant, the height of which will fluctuate between ten and fifty centimeters. The stems of this plant are straight, tetrahedral, they can be either branched or simple. The leaves of Kohlraushia runner will be linear and sharp, their length is approximately two and a half to five centimeters, and their width will be one centimeter. It is noteworthy that such leaves are rough around the edges. The flowers of Kohlraushia runnerum are in capitate inflorescences, which will be surrounded by six membranous bracts. The two outer bracts are half as long and will be equipped with a small pointed point, while the inner ones will be blunt and longer than the calyx. The petals of this plant are colored red-lilac or pink. The capsule of this plant is oblong-oval in shape, and the seeds are small, wrinkled and flat.

Flowering of Colrausia runnerum occurs during the period from June to July. Under natural conditions, this plant is found in the Black Sea region of the European part of Russia, in Moldova, in all regions of the Caucasus and in the Crimea. For growth, this plant prefers sandy places, rocky places and dry steppes.

Description of the medicinal properties of Kohlraushia runnerum

Kohlraushia shoots is endowed with very valuable healing properties, and it is recommended to use the herb of this plant for medicinal purposes. The concept of grass includes the leaves, flowers and stems of Kohlraushia shoots. The presence of such valuable medicinal properties should be explained by the content of triterpene saponins in the composition of this plant in its aerial part, while saponins are present in the leaves and roots of Kohlraushia shoots.

In folk medicine, it is recommended to use crushed fresh leaves of this plant. These leaves should be applied to bruises and abrasions. Folk medicine also widely uses an infusion made from the herb Kohlrauschia scalyx. This infusion should be taken for various types of bleeding.

For bleeding, prepare the following highly effective remedy using Kohlrauschia scalyx: to prepare this remedy, take one tablespoon of crushed herb per cup of boiling water. Let the resulting mixture steep in a sealed enamel container for approximately one hour, after which it should be thoroughly strained. Take one-third of a cup of this Kohlrauschia-based remedy three to four times daily. It’s important to remember that to achieve maximum effectiveness when taking this Kohlrauschia-based remedy, it’s recommended not only to strictly follow all the instructions for preparing the remedy, but also to carefully observe all the instructions for taking the remedy. Only then will the positive effect of this Kohlrauschia-based remedy be noticeable quickly and not short-lived, as is most often the case with this remedy.
