Graceful buttercup is one of the plants of the family called Ranunculaceae; in Latin the name of this plant will be as follows: Ranunculus pulchellus S. A. May.
As for the name of the buttercup family itself, in Latin it will be: Ranunculaceae Juss.
Description of buttercup
Graceful buttercup is a perennial herbaceous plant, the height of which will fluctuate between fifteen and thirty centimeters. This plant is glabrous and has few flowers. The stems of this plant will be straight, they can be either simple or endowed with one or two branches, and are also one to six flowered. The length of the basal leaves of the graceful buttercup is about nine to twenty-seven millimeters, and the width will be approximately four to thirteen millimeters; the shape of the leaves of this plant will be oblong-elliptical. The stem leaves of the graceful buttercup are sessile, and they will also be three to five palmate. The diameter of the flowers of this plant does not reach two centimeters, the length of the sepals is about four millimeters, and there will be five such sepals in total and they will be filmy-edged along the edge. The length of the petals of the graceful buttercup is eight to ten millimeters and there are only five of them; they can be either elliptical or obovate, while the fruit head is dense. The fruits of the graceful buttercup will be ovoid-elliptical in shape and glabrous, their length will not exceed three millimeters, and the fruits themselves are smooth.
Under natural conditions, this plant is found in Central Asia, in the Daursky and Angara-Sayan regions of Eastern Siberia and in the Altai region of Western Siberia. For growth, the graceful buttercup prefers swamps, mountain valleys, damp solonets meadows and river banks in the upper mountain zone.
Description of the medicinal properties of buttercup
The graceful buttercup is endowed with very valuable healing properties, and it is recommended to use the flowers and grass of this plant for medicinal purposes. The presence of such valuable healing properties should be explained by the content of traces of alkaloids in the composition of this plant.
In Tibetan medicine, both a decoction and an infusion made from this plant are quite common. These remedies are recommended for edema, various heart conditions, chronic gastroenteritis, ascites, headaches, gynecological conditions, dizziness, and are also a very effective vesicant. An infusion made from the flowers of the Ranunculus elegans is indicated for edema and ascites.
For all of the above conditions, the following remedy is effective: to prepare this remedy, take one teaspoon of dried, crushed Ranunculus elegans herb per 300 milliliters of water. The resulting medicinal mixture is recommended to steep for approximately one hour, after which it should be thoroughly strained. Take one tablespoon of this remedy three times daily. As a diuretic, we recommend using the following highly effective remedy based on the elegant buttercup: to prepare this remedy, add one teaspoon of this plant’s flowers to one cup of boiling water. Let the resulting mixture steep for half an hour, then strain thoroughly. Take one tablespoon of this remedy two to three times daily.
