Features of the fire-retarding valve

This device is part of many fire safety systems installed in civil and industrial facilities. Hoocon company offers products for various purposes – from residential buildings to industrial enterprises. A fire retardant valve installed in the room prevents the spread of combustion products through ventilation ducts, channels and shafts.
How does the valve work?
The most commonly used device is the normally open type: the company offers a wide range of such products. In its normal state, the OZK does not in any way impede the free passage of air flow. When a fire appears, the fire protection system is activated, a signal is sent to the valve, due to which a current appears in the windings of the electromagnet. The result is almost instantaneous closure of the valves. The process occurs within 2-10 seconds, which prevents the spread of smoke through the ventilation system. Normally closed valves are designed for smoke extraction systems: when activated, they open, directing smoke into the exhaust ducts.
For the OZK to function normally, a drive is required, which can be manual, thermal or electromagnetic. In the first case, the doors are opened using a cable and a handle. Such a drive will be needed for maintenance. The second option involves the use of a special insert, which melts when the temperature rises, which leads to straightening of the spring and closing of the valves. The electromagnetic drive is designed to work with the fire protection system and closes the passage into the air ducts when receiving a signal. This device is considered the most common.
