Oxalis deppei

Oxalis deppei is a member of the Oxalis family, and its Latin name is Oxalis deppei. The family name itself is Oxalidaceae.
Description of Oxalis deppei
For favorable growth, this plant requires ample watering throughout the summer, and it is recommended to maintain moderate humidity. Regarding light requirements, it can be grown in both full sun and partial shade. Oxalis deppei is a cormous plant.
It should be noted that this plant can be found not only indoors, but also in gardens, balconies, and terraces. When growing indoors, it is recommended to select windows with the brightest light. The maximum height of this plant in cultivation is twenty to twenty-five centimeters.
Description of Deppe’s Oxalis Care and Growing
It should be noted that this plant requires regular repotting. This should be done annually in the spring, and standard pots with a diameter of up to twenty centimeters are recommended. Three to five bulbs should be repotted at a time, to a depth of one to five centimeters: the depth will depend directly on the bulb’s size. As for the soil composition, a mixture of two parts leaf mold and one part sand and peat soil is recommended. The acidity of this soil mixture can be neutral or slightly acidic.
It is important to note that insufficient light and temperatures below twenty degrees Celsius are strictly avoided. Otherwise, the petioles of the leaves of this plant will stretch out, and the leaf blades of the Deppe’s wood sorrel will become smaller in size, and flowering of this plant will not occur at all.
In the case when the temperature is above fifteen degrees, it is recommended to increase the degree of air humidity, but additional spraying of Deppe oxalis leaves will not be required. In winter, the plant will shed either all of its leaves or part of them. Actually, the extent of such leaf shedding will be directly dependent on the conditions in which the Deppe sorrel is kept during the winter.
During the rest period, it is important to maintain a temperature of eight to ten degrees Celsius. At this time, the plant should not be watered, and the humidity should be at an average level. Starting from October and ending in November, the bulbs should be kept in a dry substrate without additional watering.
Reproduction of Oxalis deppe can occur through bulbs when transplanting this plant, and also with the help of seeds. It should be noted that the second method of reproduction is used much less frequently.
As for the specific conditions for keeping this plant, it should be noted that in the summer the pot with the plant should be taken out to the balcony or to the garden. When the temperature drops below fifteen degrees Celsius, the plant can quite steadfastly tolerate a dry atmosphere in indoor conditions.
Not only the leaves, but also the flowers of Oxalis Deppe are endowed with decorative properties. The leaves are on thin petioles, and their length is about twenty centimeters. The leaves consist of four lobes, and their color will be light green, and their middle will be red-brown. Depp’s oxalis can bloom in spring and summer, as well as in autumn and winter. The flowering period will depend not only on the plant variety, but also on the conditions of detention.
