Flat-leaved nettle is a perennial herbaceous plant whose height will vary between fifty and one hundred and fifty centimeters. The stems of this plant are straight, they are endowed with thin axillary shoots; such stems can be either bare or finely pubescent, but in any case they will be endowed with scattered stinging hairs. The leaves of flat-leaved nettle are quite large in size, their length will be about five to twenty centimeters, while the width will not exceed twelve centimeters. In shape, such leaves can be either ovate or ovoid-elliptical. At the base, the leaves of this plant will be round, heart-shaped or wedge-shaped. The inflorescences are endowed with staminate flowers; such inflorescences will be branched. They are also endowed with triangular membranous bracts and fleshy axes, their length will be up to two millimeters. The inflorescences are endowed with pistillate flowers, which will be collected in bunches and are also branched and quite long. The perianths of pistillate flowers will be equipped with a pair of rather small lateral lobes and dorsal lobes, which will be larger in size than the nut. The flat-leaved nettle nut will be ovoid in shape, and its length will be about one to one and a half millimeters.

This plant blooms from July to October. Under natural conditions, flat-leaved nettle is found in the Far East: the Kuril Islands, Sakhalin and Kamchatka. For growth, the plant prefers willow forests and riverine forests, and sometimes the plant can grow on cliffs and rocks.

Description of the medicinal properties of flat-leaved nettle

Flat-leaved nettle is endowed with very valuable healing properties, and it is recommended to use the inflorescences, leaves and roots of this plant for medicinal purposes. It is noteworthy that the use of this plant will be similar to stinging nettle. An infusion prepared from the leaves, as well as a liquid extract of this plant, have the ability to increase blood clotting. Due to the hemoglobin content and the number of red blood cells, the tone of the smooth muscle of the uterus will increase.

For anemia, it is recommended to use the following very effective remedy based on flat-leaved nettle: to prepare such a remedy, you will need to pour the crushed leaves of this plant with hot water, using ten parts of water for one part of the leaves. After the resulting mixture has cooled, it is recommended to strain it very carefully. Take this remedy based on flat-leaved nettle in equal doses approximately four to five times a day.

For heavy menstruation, it is recommended to use the following remedy based on flat-leaved nettle: for this, take the leaves of this plant and fifty percent alcohol in equal proportions. This extract of the leaves of this plant should be infused for ten days in a dark place, and the container with this product should be shaken daily. The leaf extract is a dark green liquid, the sediment of which will be more than seven percent. Take the resulting remedy based on flat-leaved nettle three to four times a day, thirty drops.
