Argemone poppy is an annual herbaceous plant whose height can reach up to forty centimeters. The stem of this plant will most often be branched from the base, endowed with sparse pressed bristles, and its color is green. The length of the basal leaves of Argemon poppy reaches twenty centimeters; they will be twice pinnately dissected, endowed with spread segments and linear-lanceolate serrated lobes. Argemone poppy buds are oblong, reaching approximately fifteen millimeters in length. The flowers of this plant are painted in red tones, the boll will be club-shaped and cylindrical, but at the top it is most often somewhat expanded, and the length of such a boll reaches twenty millimeters.

Argemon poppy blooms from May to August. Under natural conditions, this plant is found on the territory of the European part of Russia in the Black Sea and Baltic regions, as well as in the Crimea, the Carpathians and the Dnieper region in Ukraine. For growth, this plant prefers fields, sandy soils, rocky places and fallow lands as a weed.

Description of the medicinal properties of Argemone poppy

Argemon poppy is endowed with very valuable healing properties, and it is recommended to use the petals of this plant for medicinal purposes. The presence of such valuable healing properties of this plant should be explained by the content of the following alkaloids in its composition: reagenin, readin, coptisine, protopine, isoreadine, papaverubin A and papaverubin B and D. Cyanidins A and B, as well as pelargonidins A and C were found in the petals of this plant. It is noteworthy that in Israel, infusion and syrup prepared on the basis of argemon poppy are recommended to be used as very effective diaphoretic.

To prepare this diaphoretic, take one teaspoon of this plant’s petals per cup of boiling water. Let the mixture steep for about thirty to forty minutes. Take two tablespoons of this Argemon poppy-based remedy two to three times daily. It’s important to note that to ensure maximum effectiveness, it’s recommended to strictly adhere to all the instructions for preparing and taking this Argemon poppy-based remedy.

A very beneficial infusion can also be made from the petals of this plant. To prepare this Argemon poppy-based remedy, use one tablespoon of this plant’s petals per six hundred milliliters of boiling water. Let the mixture simmer for about ten minutes, then strain thoroughly. An infusion made from the petals of the argemon poppy is recommended for treating bronchitis, laryngitis, insomnia, and tachycardia. Take one-quarter cup of this remedy four times daily. An infusion made from the capsules of this plant is prepared in a similar manner: this remedy is used for abdominal pain and severe coughs, also one-quarter cup four times daily.
