Description of Potentilla acaulis
Potentilla acaulis is a perennial herbaceous plant with a stem that is only about one to five centimeters tall. Remarkably, this stem is no longer than the basal leaves; these stems are slender, simple, and sparse. Potentilla acaulis stems bear one to three flowers, which are covered with long, bristly, and squarish hairs. The basal leaves of this plant are trifoliate, short-petiolate, and quite numerous. The stem leaves of the Potentilla acaulis are sessile, simple, and quite reduced. These leaves are also densely tomentose and stellate, interspersed with longer hairs. The flowers of this plant are approximately ten to seventeen millimeters in diameter, and the petals themselves are golden-yellow in color. The fruits of the Potentilla acaulis are wrinkled and quite large.
This plant blooms from August to September. In the wild, Potentilla acaulis can be found in Central Asia, the Amur region of the Far East, and Western and Eastern Siberia.
