Description of Northern Linnaea

Northern Linnea is a creeping evergreen shrub whose height will vary between twenty and eighty centimeters. Such a plant will be endowed with rather thin and woody branches, as well as evergreen leaves. This plant owes its name to the famous Swedish botanist Carl Linnaeus. The leaves of Northern Linnaea are opposite and small, leathery and round-elliptical, they will be dark green in color and bluish underneath. The flowers of this plant are endowed with a rather pleasant aroma; they are paired and are located on long peduncles. The corolla of this plant will be narrowly bell-shaped and colored in pale pink tones. The fruit of Northern Linnaea is single-seeded and fluffy.

For growth, this plant prefers coniferous forests throughout the Far East, including the Kuril Islands and Sakhalin, the territory of Western and Eastern Siberia, as well as the Caucasus Mountains.

Description of the medicinal properties of northern linnea

Northern linnea is endowed with very valuable healing properties, and it is recommended to use the herb of this plant for medicinal purposes. The term grass includes the branches, flowers, leaves and stems of Northern Linnaea. It is noteworthy that the chemical composition of this plant has not yet been fully studied.

As for traditional medicine, a decoction based on the herb Northern Linnaea has become quite widespread. This healing agent is used as an expectorant and antidiarrheal, and is also used for epilepsy, eclampsia and other neuropsychiatric diseases. In addition, a decoction of the herbs of this plant treats inflammation and swelling of the hands, which can occur during very hard work.

A decoction of northern linnea leaves is effective for gout, rheumatism, aching arms and legs, and lower back pain as a pain reliever. It is noteworthy that in Tibetan medicine such a remedy is used for headaches and rheumatoid arthritis.

Crushed fresh herb of northern linnaea is recommended to be applied to wounds, and in the form of an infusion this plant is used for diarrhea. In addition, the herb of this plant is also used as a diaphoretic, diuretic and anti-cold remedy. It is recommended to feed cows with an infusion prepared from the herb Linnaea nora, and the herb can be applied to the hardened udder.

It should be noted that in the past, in some regions of Russia, this plant was also used as tea, having previously been brewed.

To prepare a very effective remedy based on northern linnea, it is recommended to take one tablespoon of dry herbs of this plant per glass of boiling water. The resulting healing mixture should be infused for about two hours, after which it is recommended to strain this mixture based on this plant very carefully. Take the resulting healing remedy based on Northern Linnaea ten to fifteen minutes before meals, one tablespoon three to four times a day.

In addition, hot pads based on this plant can also be used as a very valuable pain reliever. To do this, you will need to take about two to three tablespoons of northern linnea herb and boil it with boiling water, and then wrap it in gauze in pads.
