Alfalfa

Alfalfa is one of the plants of the family called legumes; in Latin the name of this plant will be as follows: Medicago sativa L.
As for the name of the alfalfa family itself, in Latin it will be: Fabaceae Lindl. (Leguminosae Juss.).
Description of alfalfa
Alfalfa is a perennial herb with a thin rhizome and tetrahedral stems. Such stems of this plant can be either bare or hairy in the upper part. The height of alfalfa will vary between forty and one hundred centimeters. The stipules of this plant are half fused. Alfalfa leaves will be trifoliate and compound; they can have either elliptical or oblong leaflets. The flowers of this plant are colored in blue-violet tones, which will be of the moth type in a shortened and sometimes even almost capitate raceme. The fruit of alfalfa is a bean that is spirally twisted in two or three turns, and its diameter will reach nine millimeters; such a bean is also endowed with a clearly visible network of veins.
Flowering of alfalfa occurs during the period from late spring to autumn. Under natural conditions, this plant is found in Ukraine, Belarus, Western Siberia, the south of the Far East and the European part of Russia. For growth, this plant prefers crops, forest edges, steppes, wastelands, places near roads, and is also found as a wild and weedy plant in dry meadows. It is noteworthy that this plant will be cultivated as a fodder in Ukraine, Belarus and Russia.
Description of the medicinal properties of alfalfa
Alfalfa is endowed with very effective healing properties, and it is recommended to use the grass of this plant for medicinal purposes. The term grass includes flowers, stems and leaves. It is recommended to harvest such raw materials throughout the entire flowering period of this plant, from June to July.
The presence of such valuable healing properties should be explained by the content of potassium, calcium, phosphorus, proteins, vitamin C and other useful substances in the composition of the herb of this plant. As for German folk medicine, alfalfa is quite widespread here. Most often, an aqueous infusion based on this plant is used here: such a very effective remedy is recommended for use for various disorders of the thyroid gland, as well as for diabetes. It is important to remember that it is recommended to beware of taking large quantities of medicinal products based on alfalfa, which is done in order to avoid the occurrence of unwanted and negative side effects.
As a sedative, it is recommended to use the following very effective remedy based on alfalfa: to prepare such a healing remedy, you will need to take one tablespoon of crushed roots of this plant per glass of boiling water. It is recommended to infuse the resulting healing mixture for about two to three hours, and then this alfalfa-based mixture should be filtered very carefully. Take the resulting medicinal product based on this plant three to four times a day, regardless of meals, one third of a glass or half a glass. It is important to remember that in order to achieve maximum effectiveness when taking such a medicinal product based on alfalfa, you must strictly follow not only all the rules for preparing such a product, but also follow all the rules for its administration.
