The flowering of the common honeydew occurs in the period from June to July. It should be noted that this plant is a shade-loving forest plant. For its growth, the common moth prefers garbage places, forests and gardens. Under natural conditions, this plant is found in the Caucasus, Central Asia, Western Siberia and the European part of the former Soviet Union.

Common gooseberry is endowed with very valuable healing properties. Moreover, the presence of such healing properties should be explained by the content of essential oil, cyclitols, glucose, fructose, umbelliferose, choline, coumarins, flavonoids kaempferol and quercetin, umbelliferone, falcarinolone, falcarindiol, falcarinol, falcarinone, higher aliphatic carbohydrate pentadecane, beta-sitosterol, phenolcarboxylic acids and their derivatives, chlorogenic and caffeic acids. The common herb will contain quite a lot of vitamin C, especially in the autumn.

Homeopathy recommends the use of preparations based on ground elder for gout and rheumatism. An infusion made from ground elder is recommended in folk medicine as a highly effective wound-healing, analgesic, emollient, and diuretic agent. Furthermore, such remedies are effective for gout, rheumatism, joint pain, and various kidney and bladder ailments. In Poland, an infusion based on this plant is used for gout, rheumatism, arthritis, and various respiratory and gastrointestinal ailments. Furthermore, crushed fresh ground elder leaves should be applied to the affected areas for joint pain.

The leaves of this plant, in turn, are used as diuretics, wound-healing, and anti-inflammatory agents. Fresh goutweed leaves are used topically in Abkhazia for erysipelas, and an infusion made from them is used for exudative diathesis.

It should be noted that goutweed is an edible plant. Young shoots are used for pickling, making soups, and salads. Notably, goutweed has a carrot-like aroma. This plant is rich in pectin and fiber, which is important for regulating metabolism and combating toxins in the body.

In folk medicine, goutweed is also quite widespread. Folk medicine recommends using this plant for obesity and chronic constipation, as well as for cancer prevention. It is also worth noting that scientific medicine recommends using goutweed for the treatment of various joint diseases: this remedy has proven to be quite effective.
