Bam-balan

Bam-balan bam-balan

Bam-balan (lat. Bambangan) is an exotic crop whose fruits have the taste of borscht. Officially, this fruit is called Mangifera Pajang Kostermans.

Description

Bam-balan is a fruit tree of medium height, endowed with a spreading crown and a huge number of regularly shaped leaves.

The fruits of bam-balan are oval, somewhat similar to Malaysian mangoes, only they will be darker in color (like vegetables). In order to peel the fruit, you just need to free it from the crust (just like a mango). Ripe fruits should be slightly soft and, as a rule, the skin peels off quite easily, without much effort. And inside each fruit is a huge pale yellow seed (almost the size of a child’s palm). It is very hard and covered with a kind of small hairs.

The taste of these delicious fruits is very reminiscent of borscht generously seasoned with sour cream and mayonnaise. It is very pronounced and bright! In addition, these fruits are characterized by a very specific smell — all the fruits are very aromatic, and their enchanting aroma is similar to the aroma of cempedak, the closest relative of the well-known breadfruit tree, belonging to the Mulberry family.

Where does it grow

Most often, the bam balan can be found on the Malaysian side of the island of Borneo. Here you can not only try it, but also buy it for yourself or as a gift. But you won’t be able to see it on other parts of the island.

Application

Bam-balan is very readily eaten wherever it grows. These fruits are also readily purchased by tourists who are big fans of all kinds of exotic things. By the way, the price is quite affordable! As soon as you want to taste borscht, you can taste this unusual fruit, eliminating the need to cook the popular first course!

Contraindications

At the moment, humanity knows nothing about any contraindications to the use of bam-balan, which, in principle, does not exclude the possibility of allergic manifestations, so it is better to try the strange fruit in small portions.
