Description of goldenrod

Goldenrod is a perennial herbaceous plant whose height will vary between twenty-five and one hundred centimeters. The stem of this plant is quite tall, for the most part it can be either straight or erect. The basal and lower leaves are oblong, while the stem leaves will be pubescent and quite numerous. Typically, goldenrod flower stalks are very well developed and will also be densely pubescent. The baskets of this plant are large, and the length of the wrappers will be about eight to ten millimeters. The involucres are four-rowed, they are painted in light green tones, their leaves will be broadly ovate, their length will reach two millimeters. The achenes will be hairy, but downwards they will be bare.

The goldenrod blooms from June to September. Under natural conditions, this plant is found everywhere in Eastern Siberia, Central Asia and the Altai region of Western Siberia. For growth, the plant prefers forests and forest clearings.

Description of the medicinal properties of goldenrod

Goldenrod is endowed with very valuable healing properties, and it is recommended to use the grass and inflorescences of this plant for medicinal purposes. The term grass includes leaves, flowers and stems. The presence of such valuable healing properties is explained by the content of the steroid loliolide and the triterpenoid squalene in the plant.

As for traditional medicine, a decoction of the herb goldenrod, which is used for kidney stones and cholelithiasis, as well as for stomatitis, scrofulosis, purulent wounds, gout, rheumatism, ascites, and also as an antiscorbutic and diuretic, has become quite widely used. The powder of the inflorescences of this plant mixed with cream is characterized by a fairly high degree of effectiveness for various skin diseases.

For kidney stones, it is recommended to use the following remedy based on goldenrod: to prepare such a remedy, take one tablespoon of crushed dry herb of this plant per glass of water. The resulting mixture should be boiled for three to four minutes over low heat, then left to steep for two hours, after which the mixture is carefully filtered. Take this remedy one to two tablespoons three times a day. To ensure greater effectiveness, it is very important to comply with all standards for taking this remedy based on goldenrod.

For purulent wounds, stomatitis, gingivitis, as well as for rinsing and lotions, it is recommended to use the following remedy based on goldenrod: to prepare such a remedy, take three tablespoons of dry crushed herb per two glasses of water. The resulting mixture should be boiled for four to five minutes, then left to infuse for two hours, after which the mixture is filtered very carefully. It is noteworthy that in order to ensure a greater degree of effectiveness when using such a product based on goldenrod, all standards for the preparation of this product should be strictly observed.
