Calopanax sevenloba is a tree whose height will be about twenty to twenty-five meters, and the diameter will be approximately fifty to eighty centimeters, approximately one and a half meters from the ground. The age of such a plant can reach two hundred years. The bark of old specimens is colored gray and has rather deep longitudinal cracks. In young trees, the bark is smooth and endowed with rather large imbricated spines, and their base will be greatly expanded. On young shoots of Calopanax sevenloba, the length of the spines can be about two centimeters. The leaves of this plant are long-petioled; the petioles at the very base will be expanded and will cover the stem. The petioles are bare and their length can reach thirty centimeters. The leaves of this plant are painted in dark green tones, they will be bare on top, and the presence of slight pubescence is noted below at the very base of the main veins. The leaf edges of this plant will be slightly serrated. The flowers of Calopanax seven-lobed are in spherical umbels, and such flowers are collected in fairly large inflorescences, the diameter of which is about thirty centimeters. The flowers of this plant are yellowish-white in color and are quite small in size. The fruits of this plant are colored black, they are very juicy and spherical in shape, and are also endowed with two seeds.
The leaves will bloom in the second half of May, and the plant will flower in August, while the fruits will ripen in late September and early October. Under natural conditions, this plant is found in the Far East: in the south of Sakhalin, in the south of Primorsky Krai and in the Southern Kuril Islands. As for its general distribution, the plant can be found in China, Korea and Japan.
