Hairy chestnut is a perennial gray-tomentose plant, endowed with numerous stems and a horizontal rhizome, the length of which can reach up to thirty to forty centimeters. The leaves of this plant are oblong-linear, alternate and sessile, and also entire. The length of such leaves can reach up to four centimeters, and towards the very base they will gradually narrow. At the top, such leaves will be pointed, they are endowed with a grayish tomentose droop. The flower baskets are quite small, they are collected in corymbose inflorescences, and their color will be yellow. The flowers are quite few in number, bisexual, endowed with a tubular yellow corolla. Flowering of the hairy breast occurs in the summer and autumn.

Under natural conditions, this plant can be found in the steppe and semi-steppe zones of the European part of Russia, Ukraine, the Caucasus, as well as in the southern regions of Western Siberia and Central Asia. For growth, the hairy baby prefers steppes, rocky, calcareous and sandy slopes, semi-deserts, salt licks and forest-steppes.

Description of the medicinal properties of hairy breast

Hairy breast is endowed with quite valuable healing properties, and for medicinal purposes it is recommended to use the flower baskets of this plant and its grass. The concept of grass includes the flowers, leaves and stems of this plant. It is noteworthy that the chemical composition of this plant has not yet been fully studied. The presence of such valuable healing properties of this plant is explained by the content of flavones and a fairly small amount of tannins.

Hairy chestnut is endowed with anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and analgesic effects. As for traditional medicine, an infusion prepared from the herb of this plant is recommended for use for tracheobronchitis, bronchitis and chest pain. Actually, it is thanks to the ability to cure chest pain that this plant got its name. External use of hairy breast is also possible: thus the plant is used in the form of a poultice for angina pectoris, rheumatic pain and toothache.

For colds, angina pectoris and bronchitis, it is recommended to use the following quite effective remedy based on hairy breast: to prepare it you will need to take two teaspoons of dry herb of this plant for about one glass of boiling water. It is recommended to infuse the resulting mixture for two hours in a sealed container, after which the mixture should be filtered very carefully. It is recommended to take one or two tablespoons of this remedy three to four times a day twenty minutes before meals.

There is also one very effective remedy that is recommended to be used in the form of pads: such pads are recommended to be applied to sore spots as an anesthetic. It is recommended to take three to four tablespoons of fresh or dry hairy herb, and then scald them with boiling water and wrap them in gauze.

It is noteworthy that due to the fact that the chemical composition of the hairy breast has not yet been fully studied, we can fully expect the emergence of new effective remedies based on this valuable medicinal plant in the near future.
