Description of Veronica Stream

Speedwell is a herbaceous perennial plant whose height will range between ten and sixty centimeters. The rhizome of this plant is long, oblique and horizontal. The stems of the plant at the very base are rooting, ascending or erect, and in the upper part these stems will be branched. The leaves of Speedwell will be opposite, and the leaf blades will be rounded to oblong-ovate; they will be about a centimeter to seven centimeters in length, and their width will not exceed two and a half centimeters. The cells of this plant are axillary, paired and loose, and also bare; the cells are endowed with ten to thirty flowers. Speedwell flowers are on deflected bare stalks, the corolla is about four to nine millimeters in diameter, and the length of such a corolla is about two and a half to four millimeters. The color of the corolla will be pale blue, endowed with blue stripes; in addition, the corolla can be pink, white, bright blue or even dark purple. The boll of speedwell is almost spherical, it is about three to four millimeters in length, the seeds of the plant are elliptical, about half a millimeter in length, and there are twenty to thirty seeds in a nest.

The plant blooms from April to September. Under natural conditions, this plant is found in the European part of Russia, with the exception of the Lower Volga and Karelo-Murmansk regions, as well as in Central Asia, Western Siberia and Eastern Siberia in some of its regions. The plant grows along the banks of rivers, swamps, lakes, as well as on rocky and gravelly slopes.

Description of the medicinal properties of speedwell

The herbs of this plant, namely the flowers, leaves and stems, are most often used for medicinal purposes. It is recommended to harvest such raw materials throughout the entire flowering period. The plant contains carbohydrates and the following related compounds: fructose, sucrose, glucose and raffinose. This plant also contains the following substances: flavonoids, phenolcarboxylic acids, organic acids, higher fatty acids, iridoids, and the carbohydrate triacontan. Veronica potochnaya is characterized by active diuretic, anti-inflammatory, choleretic, analgesic, hemostatic and wound-healing effects.

An infusion of the herb Veronica and the juice of its herb should be taken orally for hepatitis, various skin diseases, scurvy and bronchitis. As for the herbal decoction, it will be effective for gargling throat diseases, and in the form of a poultice, such a remedy helps with injuries, and as a laxative, such a decoction is used for hematuria. Speedwell leaves can be used fresh as a watercress substitute.

For hepatitis, arthralgia, scurvy, bronchitis, cholecystitis and various skin rashes, you should use a decoction of this plant three to four times a day, one-third or one-fourth of a glass. To prepare such a decoction, you will need to take one tablespoon of chopped speedwell herb per glass of boiling water, after which the resulting mixture should be infused for two hours, and then it is recommended to strain this mixture.
