For replanting, it is recommended to choose spacious and wide pots that should have good drainage. For several days after transplantation, you should under no circumstances water this plant.
As for the composition of the soil mixture, such a mixture should be nutritious and quite loose. The soil should consist of peat chips and garden soil, as well as a small amount of humus. In addition, it is important to add loosening components to such soil: gravel, coarse sand, expanded clay and brick chips. The acidity of such soil should be slightly acidic.
It is important to remember that Strauss Cleistocactus will grow more slowly than other plants of this genus. Also, flowering occurs much less frequently and is less abundant: flowering of this plant most often occurs at a later age.
Regarding special requirements, it is important to carefully protect Cleistocactus Strauss from any possible contamination, and also be careful when replanting and watering.
Throughout the rest period, it is recommended to maintain an optimal temperature range between twelve and fifteen degrees Celsius. Reproduction of Cleitocactus Strauss most often occurs through seeds. At the same time, it is worth noting that propagation is sometimes possible by rooting cuttings. Such cuttings should be dried for about a week or two, after which the cuttings are rooted and tied to supports. The substrate will need to be slightly moistened.
Cleistocactus Strauss should be watered with some caution, due to the fact that the plant can react very sharply to stagnation of moisture in the substrate.
The stem of this plant is endowed with decorative properties. The stem of Cleitocactus Strauss is quite thick, and in diameter it will reach about ten centimeters. The cylindrical stems are endowed with very numerous ribs, however, due to the very thick hair-like cover, such small ribs are almost invisible.
