Silene yenisei

Silene yenisei is a member of the Caryophyllaceae family. Its Latin name is Silene jenisseensis Willd.

Description of Silene yenisei
Silene yenisei is a perennial herbaceous plant, reaching heights between fifteen and sixty centimeters. Its stems are simple and glabrous, with roughened lower parts. Its leaves are glabrous, with ciliated margins. Its flowers are borne in a narrow paniculate or racemose inflorescence. The calyx of the Yenisei campion is oblong, naked, and sometimes swollen, while the petals are whitish in color. The fruit of this plant is an ovoid capsule.
The Yenisei campion blooms from June to August. In the wild, this plant is found in the Amur and Primorsky regions of the Far East, the Daurian and Angara-Sayan regions of Eastern Siberia, and the eastern Altai region of Western Siberia. It prefers sandy and gravelly soil, steppes, sparse forests, and southern mountain slopes.

The Yenisei campion has very valuable medicinal properties, and its roots are recommended for medicinal purposes. This plant is widely used in Tibetan medicine. The roots, grass, and flowers of the Yenisei campion are used to cleanse the gastrointestinal tract as enemas. Root powder is an anti-tuberculosis remedy. A decoction made from the roots of the Yenisei campion is recommended in Mongolian medicine as an anti-inflammatory agent for the treatment of otitis. In Transbaikalia, this plant is used for deafness, influenza, and rhinitis.
For rhinitis, it is recommended to use the following very effective healing remedy based on this plant: to prepare such a healing remedy, you will need to take one tablespoon of crushed dry roots of the Yenisei gum tree in about three hundred milliliters of water. The resulting medicinal mixture should first be boiled for about fifteen minutes in a water bath, then this mixture based on this plant should be left to infuse for one hour, after which the mixture should be very carefully filtered and topped up with boiled water up to the original amount. This medicine based on Yenisei gum should be instilled into the nose, three to five drops, for rhinitis. It is noteworthy that this remedy is also recommended for use in cases of age-related deafness: for this you need to drink one or two tablespoons of this decoction three times a day, regardless of meals. In addition, such a medicine based on Yenisei gum can also be used topically for the treatment of chronic otitis media.
