Description of orthanta yellow

Orthanta yellow is an annual herbaceous plant, the height of which will fluctuate between six and forty centimeters. This plant is a semi-parasite. The stems of this plant will be pubescent and erect. The length of the leaves of Orthanta yellow is about three to twenty-seven millimeters, and the width will be equal to one to two millimeters; such leaves can be either linear or linear-lanceolate. The flowers of this plant are in rather dense spike-shaped inflorescences, which will be multi-flowered and one-sided. The corolla of this plant is colored yellow, its length is six to seven millimeters. Such a corolla will be endowed with pubescent lips, and the throat will be hairy. The upper lip of the yellow orthanta is notched and helmet-shaped, its length will be about two to two and a half millimeters. The lower lip of this plant will be three-lobed and it turns out to be almost equal to the upper one. The length of the yellow orthanta box will be about three and a half millimeters, and the width will be equal to two millimeters, while such a box will be equipped with a spout and is ovoid. The length of the yellow orthantha seed will be about one and a half millimeters, and the width will be equal to half a millimeter; such a seed will be colored in dark brown tones.

This plant blooms from May to August. Under natural conditions, Orthanta yellow is found in the Crimea, Moldova, the Caucasus, the Dnieper region of Ukraine and in the south of the European part of Russia. For growth, this plant prefers steppes, calcareous, meadow, sandy and chalk slopes. In addition, the yellow orthanthus is a very valuable honey plant.

Description of the medicinal properties of orthanthus yellow

Orthanta yellow is endowed with very valuable healing properties, and it is recommended to use the entire above-ground part of this plant for medicinal purposes. Such raw materials should be harvested throughout the entire flowering period of this plant.

The presence of such valuable healing properties should be explained by the content of alkaloids in the roots of this plant. Moreover, the aerial part of Orthanta yellow contains iridoids, catatpol, isocatalpol, carbohydrates and the related compound D-mannitol, as well as flavonoids, phenolcarboxylic acids and their derivatives. The stems of this plant will contain flavonoids, while the leaves will contain carotenoids, aucubin and cardenolides. The flowers of Orthanthus yellow contain alkaloids, flavonoids, cardenolides and carotenoids, while the seeds contain catalpol and aucubin.

It is noteworthy that the experiment proved that the sum of flavonoids that are found in the aerial part of this plant have the ability to increase the amplitude of heart contractions and the volumetric velocity of coronary blood flow. In addition, such flavonoids will also have a vasodilating effect, while the amount of iridoids in this plant will be endowed with antibacterial activity.

To treat intestinal colic, it is recommended to use the following remedy based on yellow orthanta: to prepare such a remedy, take ten grams of herb per one hundred milliliters of vodka. The resulting mixture is left to sit in the sun for five to seven days, then the mixture is filtered. Take the resulting remedy based on this plant three times a day, twenty-five drops per spoon of water.
