Description of Moorish mallow

Moorish mallow is an annual or biennial herbaceous plant, the height of which is about two hundred and fifty centimeters. The stems of this plant are straight and single, and the leaves will be endowed with five blunt lobes. The petals of the Mauritanian mallow flowers are approximately three to four times longer than the calyx, they can be colored in both light purple and purple tones, and when dried, such flower petals will darken.

Description of the medicinal properties of Moorish mallow

Moorish mallow is endowed with very valuable healing properties, and it is recommended to use the roots and herbs of this plant for medicinal purposes. The term grass includes flowers, stems and leaves. The presence of such valuable healing properties is recommended to be explained by the content of mucus in all parts of this plant.

As for traditional medicine, here this plant is quite widespread. A decoction prepared from the roots of the Mauritanian mallow is recommended for use in bronchitis, and also as a substitute for marshmallow. An infusion prepared from the leaves and flowers of this plant is indicated for use in various inflammatory processes in the stomach and intestines, colds, diarrhea, inflammatory processes in the respiratory tract, especially dry cough. For gargles and poultices for various throat diseases, it is recommended to use Mauritanian mallow leaves as a very effective emollient.

It is noteworthy that the leaves of this plant can be eaten both fresh and boiled as a salad. Moorish mallow flowers are used to dye fabrics and wines.

For dry coughs, the following remedy based on this plant is considered very effective: to prepare this remedy, take one tablespoon of mallow flowers or leaves per approximately one cup of boiling water. Let this mixture steep for approximately two hours, then strain thoroughly. Take this remedy three to four times daily, one or two tablespoons, sweetening the mixture to taste.

For bronchitis, the following effective remedy based on mallow is recommended: to prepare this remedy, take four teaspoons of crushed mallow roots per two cups of boiled water at room temperature. Let this mixture steep for approximately eight hours, then strain thoroughly. Take the resulting remedy made from the Mauritanian mallow three to four times daily, one-third of a glass at a time.

For inflammatory conditions, the following effective remedy based on this plant is recommended for gargles, poultices, enemas, and compresses: boil two tablespoons of the leaves, or flowers, in two and a half cups of water for a couple of minutes, steep for two hours, and strain thoroughly.
