Turkestan gentian

Turkestan gentian is one of the plants of the family called Gentianaceae; in Latin the name of this plant will be as follows: Gentianella turcestanorum (Grand) Holub.

Description of Turkestan gentian
Turkestan gentian is an annual or biennial herbaceous glabrous plant, which will be colored in green tones. The height of such a plant will fluctuate between three and sixty centimeters. The stems of this plant will be simple or they may be endowed with several short branches at the base; sometimes such stems may be weakly branched in the upper part, and they are always few-flowered. The leaves of the basal rosette are oblong-obovate in shape, their length is about ten to thirty-five millimeters, the number of veins will be three to five. In this case, the stem leaves will be lanceolate or ovate-lanceolate, their length will be twenty to fifty millimeters, and their width will be about six to fifteen millimeters. The upper leaves are sharp. The flowers will be five-membered, curled at the tops of the stem and branches, and on fairly short pedicels. The length of the calyx will be approximately eight to eleven millimeters, the corolla is tubular, and its color will be either yellowish or pale blue. The length of the corolla of this plant will be about nine to nineteen millimeters, while this length is slightly longer than the length of the calyx. The blades will be oblong-oval and half as long as the tube. The capsule of Turkestan gentian is on a short stem; it will be oblong-oval in shape. The seeds of this plant are quite small, round-oval in shape, smooth, and also brown in color.
Turkestan gentian blooms from July to August. Under natural conditions, this plant is found in Central Asia, as well as in Western Siberia: in the south and in the Altai region. For growth, Turkestan gentian prefers swamps, wet meadows, banks of rivers and streams, slopes, shrubs, forests, steppe slopes, as well as springs and places along ditches from the lower mountain to the upper mountain zone.
Description of the medicinal properties of Turkestan gentian
It is recommended to use the herb of this plant for medicinal purposes. The term herb includes the flowers, leaves and stems of Turkestan gentian. The presence of such valuable healing properties is explained by the content of flavonoids, coumarins, bellifolium pigment in this plant, as well as the following alkaloids: gentianain, gentianin, gentianidin and gentianamine.

Gentianine is also endowed with tranquilizing properties in hyperglycemic and hypoglycemic coma, experimental psychosis and adrenaline diabetes.
