Marsh saxifrage is a perennial herbaceous plant, the height of which will fluctuate between ten and forty centimeters. The stems of this plant will be simple and erect; they can be either several pieces or single. The stems are deciduous, and at the base they are endowed with a rosette of leaves. The leaves of the marsh saxifrage are colored in light green tones, they are entire and lanceolate, their length is one to three centimeters, and the width is about three to five millimeters. Such leaves of this plant will be bare, and the lower leaves will taper into a rather long stalk, the upper leaves will be sessile, narrower and smaller. There are about one to four flowers at the top of the stem; the petals of the marsh saxifrage are painted in bright yellow tones, and sometimes can be endowed with orange dots. Such petals will be elliptical in shape, their length will be eight to twelve millimeters, and their width will be three to three and a half millimeters. The boll of marsh saxifrage is oblong-oval in shape, and its length will be one centimeter.

Marsh saxifrage blooms from August to September. Under natural conditions, this plant is found everywhere in Russia, as well as in the Caucasus, Belarus, Ukraine and Central Asia. For growth, the plant prefers places along rivers and streams, damp meadows, swamps and moss-lichen tundra. It should be noted that marsh saxifrage appears to be a very valuable honey plant.

Description of the medicinal properties of marsh saxifrage

Swamp saxifrage is endowed with very valuable healing properties, and it is recommended to use the roots, seeds and grass of this plant for medicinal purposes. The concept of grass includes flowers, leaves and stems.

The herb of this plant contains tannins. A decoction of the roots and seeds of marsh saxifrage is recommended for topical use for a variety of skin conditions. A decoction of this herb is recommended for stimulating menstruation. Both an infusion and tincture of the herb should be used for heart conditions and gastrointestinal disorders, and also as a diuretic. Locally, this infusion and tincture should be used as a pain reliever.

For a poultice for acne and dermatitis, use the following remedy: to prepare this remedy, take one tablespoon of crushed roots or one teaspoon of seeds per glass of water. The resulting mixture should be simmered over fairly low heat for four to five minutes, then left to steep for one hour, after which the mixture should be thoroughly strained. For a missed period, it is recommended to use the following highly effective remedy based on marsh saxifrage: to prepare this remedy, take one tablespoon of chopped herb per one cup of boiling water. Boil the resulting mixture for three to four minutes, then let it steep for an hour, after which strain the mixture very thoroughly. Take this remedy based on marsh saxifrage, two tablespoons three times daily.
