Impatiens vulgaris is an annual herbaceous plant whose height will vary between thirty and one hundred and twenty centimeters. The stems of this plant will be translucent, erect and they are endowed with thickened nodes. The leaves of impatiens vulgaris are alternate, they will be blunt-toothed along the edges, their length reaches ten centimeters, such leaves can be either elliptical or ovoid. The flower stalks will be double, and they will be curved so that the flowers will be located under the leaves. The length of the impatiens flowers will be about three centimeters; they will be colored yellow with orange spots, which in turn are located in the throat. The fruit of this plant is a linear-oblong capsule.

Impatiens vulgaris blooms from July to August. Under natural conditions, this plant is found in Central Asia, the Caucasus, the Far East, Belarus, Ukraine and the European part of Russia, with the exception of the Far North. As for the general distribution, this plant can be found in Asia Minor, the Western Mediterranean, Scandinavia, Korea, Northeast China, the Balkan Peninsula, Central and Atlantic Europe. For growth, the common impatiens prefers ravines, places along streams and rivers, as well as damp forests and forested lowland swamps.

Description of the medicinal properties of impatiens vulgare

Impatiens vulgaris is endowed with very valuable healing properties, and it is recommended to use the roots and grass of this plant for medicinal purposes. The concept of grass includes the leaves, flowers and stems of this plant. The presence of such valuable healing properties should be explained by the content of ceryl alcohol, flavonoids, ascorbic acid, stigmasterol, tannins and bitter substances in the herb of this plant. The seeds will contain fatty oil, which contains parinaric acid.

As for traditional medicine, impatiens vulgaris has become quite widespread. Here, an infusion prepared from the herb of this plant is used as a diuretic for urolithiasis and edema. An infusion prepared from the herb was also used as a very effective astringent, emetic, laxative, wound healing, anti-inflammatory agent, and in addition, such an infusion is considered an abortifacient and helps during childbirth.

For wounds, hemorrhoids, calluses, warts, scratches and abrasions, compresses and washing are used with an infusion of the impatiens herb or its juice. It should be noted that the herbal infusion is also an effective remedy for sore throat.

For aching legs and rheumatic joint diseases, it is recommended to use baths based on an infusion prepared from the impatiens herb. This herbal infusion is also used for childhood convulsions and is used as a very effective antidote for snake bites and fish poisoning. The juice of the impatiens herb is also used as an anthelmintic. In addition, the juice is also used as a rub, as well as for the treatment of scrotal eczema.
