Description of hairy milkweed
Milkweed is a perennial herbaceous plant whose height will vary between forty and one hundred and twenty centimeters. Such a plant is densely fluffy, and its root will be multi-headed, thick and cylindrical, and this root is also endowed with long shoots. The stems of hairy milkweed are erect and numerous, at the bottom their thickness is four to seven millimeters, they will be fist-shaped, and also endowed with two to ten peduncles, the length of which will be about one and a half to eleven centimeters. It is noteworthy that in the lower part such stems will be endowed with non-flowering branches, the lower leaves of this plant are scale-like, and the stem leaves can be either barely petiolate or sessile. The inflorescence of hairy milkweed will be corymbose, there are only five to eight apical peduncles, and their length will be one and a half to seven centimeters. The glass of this plant is bell-shaped, its length is two and a half millimeters, and its diameter is two and a half to three millimeters. The fruit of the milkweed is a spherical and flattened three-nut, the length of which is three and a half to four millimeters, and the width is about four to four and a half millimeters. Moreover, such a fruit will also be slightly furrowed. The seed of this plant is shiny, smooth and compressed-ovoid, and its length will be about two to two and a half millimeters; such a seed will be colored in dark brown tones.
Under natural conditions, this plant is found in the territory of Moldova, the Caucasus and the Dnieper region of Ukraine. For growth, hairy spurge prefers river banks, ditches, foothills, lowlands, forest lawns, damp meadows and swampy river valleys overgrown with bushes.
Description of the medicinal properties of milkweed
Milkweed is endowed with very valuable healing properties, and it is recommended to use the herb of this plant for medicinal purposes. The term herb includes the leaves, stems and flowers of hairy milkweed.
The presence of such valuable healing properties should be explained by the content of alkaloids, saponins, organic acids, vitamin C and tannins in this plant. The roots of milkweed will contain rubber and resins, while the stems and leaves will contain inositol.
It should be noted that animal experiments have proven that tinctures and decoctions prepared on the basis of milkweed are capable of causing stimulation of the central nervous system, followed by paralysis.
As for traditional medicine, here this plant is quite widespread. Here, the milky juice of the milkweed grass is indicated for use as a very effective and gentle laxative. In homeopathy, the essence of this plant is quite widely used. It is worth noting that hairy spurge is endowed with the ability to dye fabrics a rather rich green color.
It should be noted that due to the fact that the chemical composition of coastal milkweed has not yet been fully studied, new ways of using medicinal products based on this plant may appear in the near future.
