Description of Dubrovnik garlic

Dubrovnik garlic is a perennial herbaceous plant with a creeping rhizome. The stems of this plant will be erect, they can be either branched or simple. The stems are shaggy-hairy and quite often they have a purple tint, and the height of such stems ranges between ten and forty centimeters. The leaves of garlic clove are arranged quite densely, their length will be about fifteen to thirty centimeters. In shape, such leaves will be oblong-elliptical, they are sessile, short-fibrous above, and protruding-hairy below.

The general inflorescence of this plant is quite narrow, with the axillary inflorescences being half as long as the covering leaves of the garlic clove. The length of the flowers is eight to ten millimeters. The calyx of this plant is tubular-bell-shaped, with the corolla being twice as long as the calyx. The corolla is colored in light brown tones, and sometimes can be white. The plant is endowed with a garlicky smell.

The flowering of garlic clove occurs in the period from July to August. Under natural conditions, this plant can be found on the territory of the European part of Russia in the Volga region and the Black Sea region, as well as in Ukraine in the Dnieper region and the Carpathians, in Central Asia, in the Verkhnedneprovsky region of Belarus and in the following regions of Western Siberia: in the Irtysh and Verkhnetobolsky. For growth, garlic clove prefers swampy and damp meadows, places along the banks of rivers and lakes, as well as saline soils.

Description of the medicinal properties of Dubrovnik garlic

Dubrovnik garlic is endowed with quite valuable healing properties, and it is recommended to use the herb of this plant for medicinal purposes. The term herb includes the leaves, stems and flowers of the garlic clove.

The plant is endowed with antiseptic, diuretic, anti-inflammatory, diaphoretic, hemostatic, detoxifying, anthelmintic and tonic effects.

As for traditional medicine, the infusion of the herb has become quite widespread for heartburn, diarrhea, belching, spastic colitis, gastric hyposecretion, flatulence and hemorrhoids, as well as for improving appetite. In addition, this infusion can be used as a diuretic and anthelmintic. Dubrovnik garlic herb extract is used for lupus, actinomycosis, and lymphadenitis. Also, the herb extract of this plant is included in the collection, which is recommended for use as a lotion for purulent rashes. The fresh flowering herb of this plant is also used in homeopathy.

A decoction of Dubrovnik garlic leaves is used to treat various diseases of the spleen, and externally this remedy is used in the form of lotions and compresses as a wound healing agent.

For colitis, diarrhea, heartburn and flatulence, as well as as a diaphoretic and tonic, it is recommended to use the following remedy based on garlic cloves: to prepare it, take two tablespoons of crushed dry herbs per half liter of water. This mixture is boiled over low heat in a sealed container for four to five minutes, and then left to steep for one to two hours, after which it is carefully filtered. Take the resulting product one third of a glass three times a day.
