Description of the red fly agaric
The red fly agaric is a so-called saprophytic mushroom, endowed with a fruiting body in the form of a cap, which is located on a stalk ranging from seven to fifteen centimeters in height. The stem of such a mushroom will be white, narrowed at the top and tuberous-thick at the bottom, the diameter of the red fly agaric cap will fluctuate between seven and twenty centimeters. It is noteworthy that in young mushrooms the cap is almost spherical, while in mature ones it will be either almost flat with a slightly striped edge, or convex. The skin of the red fly agaric is colored either orange or bright red, and is endowed with rather large white or yellowish warts. The flesh of such a mushroom will be white, but under the skin of the cap it is reddish or yellow. Very highly toxic substances were found in the fruiting body of this mushroom: the alkaloids muscaridine and muscarine, choline, trimethylamine, as well as the antibiotic dye muscafurin, which should be classified as a derivative of colicoric acid.
Description of the medicinal properties of the red fly agaric
First of all, it should be noted that the red fly agaric is poisonous. As for traditional medicine, red fly agaric is quite widely used here for the treatment of cancerous tumors and pulmonary tuberculosis. It is recommended to rub with water-alcohol extracts, as well as drops and tinctures based on this mushroom, for rheumatism.
The peoples of Kamchatka, Alaska and Chukotka used fly agaric in fairly small doses for various nervous and mental disorders, to relieve physical fatigue and to improve tone. In central Russia, various potions were prepared that contained red fly agaric. Such drugs were used for various diseases of internal organs, tumors, multiple sclerosis, gout, eczema, rheumatism and functional disorders of the spinal cord.
It’s worth noting that the red fly agaric possesses a highly valuable and effective insecticidal effect, meaning it can kill insects. For this reason, this mushroom is often used to kill bedbugs and flies. It’s also worth noting that killing flies also has significant preventative value and will help prevent many infectious diseases.
To kill flies, we recommend using the following fly agaric-based remedy: take the cap and stem of this mushroom and cut them into fairly small pieces. Pour milk or water over the resulting mixture and then place it near a window. When this infusion dries, replace it with a new one. It’s worth noting that in this case, fly control is very effective and occurs quite quickly.
Another remedy used to kill flies is the following: pour a decoction of the red fly agaric into plates, then place filter paper inside the plates. In addition, the red fly agaric can also be used to kill bedbugs. To prepare this remedy, take the cap and stem of the red fly agaric and boil them into a liquid paste. The resulting paste should be used to lubricate the cracks where the bedbugs reside. It is recommended to reapply this remedy periodically if bedbugs still persist.
